Two offers - equally compelling - Idea, Airtel, Reliance, Docomo - everyone has it..
1. 1 paisa per second
2. 50 paisa per minute
which one ?
Ok - here is the calculation behind it ….
case 1 - all your calls last less than 50 seconds - Then go for the (1 paisa per second plan). For the 50 paisa plan, you end up paying 50 paisa even if you talk for one second only.. But here’s the catch - Nobody talks for just 1 second. Just an Hello from both ends takes up 5-10 seconds. And, then again, there should be some reason that you called… convey the reason, and get a reply. So think closely.. if you fall in this category..
case 2 - you try to keep your conversations as less as possible, but you generally dont use a stopwatch to time the seconds while talking. Definitely go forthe 50 paisa per minute plan. The reason is : Once you cross the 50 seconds mark, then the 50 p / min plan is working to your advantage. compare the chart below :
As you can see, for all conversations that exceed 50 sec, 50 paisa per minute plan is the most profitable.
| Duration | 1 paisa per second | 50 paisa per minute | Advantage ? |
| Less than 50 sec | Pay the called minutes | You end up paying 50 paisa anyway | 1 paisa plan |
| 50 sec to 1 minute | More than 50 paisa | 50 paisa | 50 paisa plan |
| 1 minute to 1 min 59 sec | Between 60 paisa and 1.20 Rs | 50 paisa | 50 paisa plan |
| 2 minutes | 1.20 Rs | 1 Rs | 50 paisa plan |
| 2 minutes to 2 minute 59 sec | Between 1.20 rs and 1.80 rs | 1 Rs | 50 paisa plan |
| 3 minutes | 1.80 Rs | 1.50 Rs | 50 paisa plan |

The figures given above are not correct. Please note that the operator will charge for 2 minutes even if you talk for 1 minute and 1 sec. The pulse goes to 2 as soon as you cross the 1 minute barrier. So you would have to pay Rs.1 for the case in row no:3 and Rs.1.50 for the case in row no:5. So it is almost always profitable to opt for the 1 sec plan(Only exception is when you talk exactly between 50 sec and 1 minute, ie 52 sec, 1 min 55 sec, 3 min 51 sec etc…..)
