I have written an article. Has google indexed it ? is it appearing on google search ?

Just a few of the questions that started bothering me after writing articles on this blog. So i have listed a few points that solves the problems

  1. firstly, I was not how google bots (the so called google robots) would find my site. The answer is.. There is no point in doubting the capabilities of google. Google will eventually index your site. If you want to be double sure, you can just submit your site / blog to Google at http://www.google.com/addurl.html.
  2. Next, as your site grows, you need to be sure that all your pages are indexed correctly. For this, submit a Sitemap using Google Webmaster Tools. Google uses your Sitemap to learn about the structure of your site and to increase our coverage of your webpages.
  3. Are all my pages listed on google ? How can I be sure ? To get a list of all pages listed on google for your particular website, do a site search  by typing site:google.com in google search.
  4. Now, once your articles start getting noticed, you tend to ask… which all sites are linking to my front page ? this is how you can get an answer : type link:example.com where exapmle.com is the your home page.
  5. Ok.. next, you begin to use keywords as you advance in the blogosphere. This is the time when you begin to think if your site ranks for a particular keyword : type [ site:techlemon.com keyword]  where keyword is the one that you want to checkout.

All the above points answer questions about your site’s status on google search. But, How do you get better ranking with google search ?

1. You need to follow best practices mentioned by google here.

2. Anytime, your site staus can be checked as google as provided this site status wizard.

and thats how your status on google can be ascertained.
