Google search has always been synonymous with the clear white screen that we are all used to.
Now, just imagine - If google had promoted a black screen instead, would it have made any difference ?

Let me explain - the power consumed by computer monitor to display a black screen is much less than it would to display a white screen. Now, considering the huge amount of google users, the total energy that could be saved is approx 3000 MW according to this article
