I put a cd in the cd drive. Suddenly the autoplay pops up. The contents of the cd are played automatically. Seems to be a good feature.. isnt it..
But, the trouble is that if that particular cd contains a virus, then our machine gets infected automatically along with the autoplay feature.
This is the situation in case of flash drives also…
So, how do we disable this autorun/autoplay feature ?
We can do this using the Group Policy Editor by going to run-> and type gpedit.msc. Press enter.
Navigate to
Local Computer Policy-> Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates-> System.
Now on the right panel double click Turn off autoplay
Select enabled
choose All drives from the dropdown list and click ok and exit
